Without Borders is the free quarterly magazine from HWB. It is a magazine for practitioners, community herbalists, and those working in their communities. We wanted to create a magazine that we all wished for - a magazine that not only has recipes and articles about the plants, but also has articles to develop and deepen our clinical practice, to develop skills that we don't learn in herb school, and to help share how we all can make a difference in our communities. That magazine is here!
Our issues are over 100 pages of recipes, book reviews, plant monographs, webinars, feature articles, and more. Without Borders has content for nonmembers and members alike, with links to members-only exclusives linking into the member portal and for instant member download.
SUMMER 2024 - SUBMIT AN ARTICLE
Want to submit an article for the July 2024 Issue? The deadline is June 7. Our theme is RESILIENCE. This is resilience for our family, community, and practice. How do we create more resilient communities, and how do we prepare for disaster. How do we create more resilience in our work so that we can weather the storms and impacts. What skills might we need for this?
We welcome articles on herbal preservation techniques, community preparedness building, finding allies in our communities, and clinical soft skills and practice building in the face of community change, disaster, and need. Please submit your articles including your short bio and headshot, word count, title, article, and any photos (no stock images, please) to editor@hwbglobal.org.
HWB is a community-oriented membership-based nonprofit. We encourage our members to submit news, updates, articles, recipes, feature stories and book reviews.

FREE Listings for Members Posting FREE Events
HWB Members are welcome to contribute FREE events to our events calendar. We will not post links to fundraisers for other nonprofit organizations or groups asking for donations to any gofundme or paypal that is not directly to HWB Global
Text only 50 words or less. To submit your event, please email editor@hwbglobal.org and include the event name, date, location, that the event is FREE, URL, and 50 words or less description. Include your name and email as the contact info so that we can verify your membership (but we will not share that information unless it is a part of your listing). Members can list any free events.
Paid Listings for all Non-Members or for Members Listing Paid Events
Interested in submitting a listing for a paid event - conference, classes, webinars, etc.? HWB Is now accepting a small donation for listings in our calendar section for events that have a fee. Both Members and non-Members can submit listings for paid events with a small donation - Members receive a discounted rate.

Topics We are Looking For:
Herbal recipes, herbal practice, acupuncture, Asian medicine, western herbalism, traditional healing modalities, aromatherapy, flower essences, bodywork, gardening, permaculture, mindfulness, meditation, culturally relevant holistic support, nature, plant conservation, trauma-informed care, seed saving, mutual aid, seed libraries/seed banks, global health and wellness, international plant species, regional plant species, recipes to support specific seasonal or disaster related needs, and other topics related to health justice, holistic health access, global herbalism, and serving the underserved
Other Submission Tips:
Please Do Not Include:
- Brand names, proprietary names, or trademarks. This includes, but is not limited to, herbal blends, supplements, and essential oils.
- Recommendations for ingestion of essential oils
- Words such as “to treat†“treatment†"diagnose" "cure"
- Articles are not advertisements for a specific product or service. Leave the plugs for your bio!
- Activities that are not legal in the US or your country
- Photos of people handling herbs for clinical practice when not in sanitary conditions or meeting GMPs
All writers that submit accepted articles for Without Borders Magazine will receive a FREE 1/4 page ad placement in the magazine issue that their article appears in.

1/4 page ad, horizontal: 4.875″ x 3.125″
Please create your graphical listing using the dimension you have purchased, with no bleed.
Submission Criteria:
Color: RGB
Resolution: Minimum 72 DPI @ 100% scale
Format: JPG (high quality), PNG, PDF
Bleed: NONE, all files to be the exact size of the final piece
Font: Embed all fonts if saving as a quality resolution PDF
Submissions must be received in the correct usable format by the deadline along with the associated donation for that size. We are not able to design your ad at this time with limited volunteer support.Â
HWB reserves the right to refuse any placement for any reason including inappropriate content, conflict with our mission and vision, space issues, inappropriate language (ie: treat, cure, diagnose), showing the handling of herbs in a way that is unsanitary or inappropriate, the use of herbs in an unsafe way, recipes recommending internal use of certain plants or essential oils, articles with a political agenda or perspective, articles that conflict with global public health, or any other issues that conflict with our mission, vision, 501c3 status, nonprofit work, our members, or our programs.
