Region: Bucks County, PA & Puerto Rico (Borikén)
We are Annie and Isa, a mother-and-daughter Boricua Taíno-mixed team dedicated to creating spaces for unity, meaningful conversation, and healing in our community and Borikén (Puerto Rico). Our work is rooted in connection, to one another, our culture, our traditions, and the natural world. As Coordinators, we see ourselves as listeners and connectors, creating opportunities for people to share knowledge, build relationships, and grow together. We are passionate about community wellness, herbalism, cultural connection, and honoring the wisdom passed down from our ancestors through generations. 🪶
Our vision is to cultivate accessible, community-centered herbal education and wellness support in Bucks County and Boriken (Puerto Rico), while creating meaningful connections between the two communities. We hope to build a living network of herbalists, gardeners, growers, educators, wellness practitioners, students, families, elders, and curious community members who can learn from one another and share what they know.
We want to honor both modern herbal education and the traditional plant knowledge passed down through families and communities.
Rather than approaching herbalism as something that belongs to one person or one practitioner, we see it as a shared body of knowledge, something that can be nurtured, respected, and passed forward.
Our communities in Bucks County and Borikén (Puerto Rico) need spaces where people feel seen, heard, supported, and connected. We hope to begin by creating small, accessible programs that bring people together through herbal education, plant walks and talks, and opportunities to share knowledge and traditional wisdom.
We would also like to develop small free community clinics, care kits, and programs for children and seniors, especially those who may feel overlooked or have limited access to resources. Our focus is to start small, listen to what our communities need, and grow together with compassion, dignity, and care.
Our work is centered on a simple belief: when someone is in need and we have something that may help, we share what we can.
We provided vitamins, creams, tinctures, seeds, herbs, and other wellness products to mothers and their children, as well as to members of our local community and Borikén (Puerto Rico). We were also able to provide herbal remedies to an elder in the Indian Flathead Reservation in Montana.
Whenever resources are available to us through HWB, we share them with those who needed them. When something is not available, we do our best to find and purchase it through trusted apothecaries so we can still offer support.
For us, this work is not simply about providing products. It is about care, dignity, love, and showing up for one another. We believe that small acts of kindness can create connection and remind people that they are not alone. Our hope is to continue growing this spirit of generosity and unity within our communities, while creating more opportunities to share knowledge, resources, and healing.
