HWB Inland Northwest
Our goal is to continue expanding access to herbal medicine and community care, with a particular focus on female health. We hope to offer more free pop-up clinics, practical herbal education, herbal medicine distribution and accessible wellness care. We also want our chapter to remain responsive to community needs including providing herbal support and relief supplies during disasters such as wildfires.
Ultimately, we hope to build a strong and sustainable chapter that brings practical herbal care directly to the people who need it.
Our community is located in a region where historically underserved populations may have limited access to supportive care, including herbal resources. At the same time, our region is experiencing a growing healthcare access gap—particularly in female health—due in part to the loss of local OB-GYN providers and limited access to specialized care.
These gaps create a meaningful need for accessible, community-based resources for females across the lifespan, including through the perimenopause and menopause transitions.
Our chapter works to help meet these needs through free pop-up clinics, community herbal education, nutritional support, herbal medicine, and the distribution of herbal care and wellness kits.
Our region also continues to experience the impacts of recurring wildfires, creating an ongoing need for disaster-relief support and resources for affected communities.
Although we are a newly formed chapter, our first year demonstrated what is possible through community collaboration. Together with our local apothecary and nine local practitioners, we provided free services to more than 50 females in our community, helping reduce barriers to herbal, nutritional, and supportive care.
That same spirit of collective care extended into wildfire season, when we worked together to distribute free respiratory-support herbal medicine to community members affected by smoke and poor air quality.
In the coming year, we hope to build on these collaborative efforts by providing herbal care kits at local PRIDE events for members of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as making kits available for community pickup through our chapter coordinator’s office.
